Suga Still Shadowed by DUI Scandal, Can a Full BTS Comeback Really Happen?

As BTS nears the end of its military hiatus, hopes for a full-group comeback are rising. On June 11, Jimin and Jungkook were discharged from the 5th Infantry Division after serving together in the army. A day earlier, RM and V completed their service as well. Suga, who is serving as a social service worker due to health reasons, is expected to complete his service on June 21.

The members expressed their excitement about returning to music. RM said he wants to release a new album soon and perform again, while V promised to come back with an impressive stage for fans. RM also spoke openly about personal struggles, including insomnia triggered by last year’s controversies surrounding HYBE and its internal conflict with former ADOR CEO Min Hee-jin.
However, not all reactions have been positive. Suga’s past DUI incident in August 2024 continues to spark criticism. While serving as a public service worker, he was caught operating a scooter under the influence. HYBE initially referred to it as a “kickboard,” but later clarified it was a scooter with a seat, drawing accusations of a cover-up. Suga later issued a handwritten apology, admitting he had failed to live up to the love and responsibility expected of him.

While HYBE stock prices are rising and excitement builds for BTS’s reunion, some fans argue that Suga’s return is premature. Whether BTS can truly return as a full seven-member group remains uncertain.
- Can’t they just leave him out? He’s ugly anyway ╋ his music sucks too (Daechwita? LOL)
- Yes, it’s possible.
- Seriously, just because of that one person…
- He already got over it, though? You’d think the incident happened just last month or something, LOL.
- TV Report = Fast View. They shorted HYBE stocks and are now in court~ These short-selling firms and their clients seriously need to do time.
- Is the journalist supporting the 6-member lineup? What kind of article is this?
Ultimately, the conversation around BTS’s full-group comeback reflects a deeper divide within the fandom and the public. While many eagerly await the symbolic return of all seven members, others remain hesitant due to unresolved controversies. As the group approaches a new era, the question isn’t just whether they will stand on stage as seven—but whether audiences are ready to see them that way again.
